A note from BuildASoil
Over the last 13+ years, we've grown into a much better company — and a lot of that growth came directly from our critical reviews. Every 1, 2, or 3-star review on this page taught us something. New formulations, better packaging, improved shipping, clearer instructions, stronger customer support — almost all of it traces back to a customer who took the time to tell us what wasn't working.
If you haven't tried BuildASoil in a while — or you tried us early on and it didn't go great — we'd genuinely love another shot. We get better every year, and we have the receipts to prove it. See what's new at buildasoil.com →
I definitely wouldn't have bought this if the ad wasn't showing that it was actually the whole coffee maker not just filters...I took screenshots cuz it seemed too good to be true and I guess it was. But I was so stoked to have found out about Buildasoil that perhaps I thought it was just another awesome part of the whole business...But by the time it arrived - the picture and description changed (see my screenshots- the second one is from the email confirmation of my order). Soil products came quick and if it weren't for this I would have been more than satisfied.
But yeah, kinda shady how this went down. Any one else experience this or just me? In the email order confirmation the thumbnail/picture got swapped out after the fact and the name was able to be changed but as you can see the original image is broke/no longer there. The first screen shot is from when i found it on the website. Very misleading!!!
Everything else was legit...This part was really was a negative tho. It just didn't feel right.
Thats it,
..rant over,
..peace out.
..I still don't own an Aeropress by the way.
Im actually done purchasing products from b.a.s. after seeing the price of this tub. I just made my own in 20 min for 5$.
It sickened me to see it for 90$ I cant do business with that level of greed. I love the organic methods & information from build a soil, but too pushy ( emailing me everytime i go to the site & dont buy something) and the prices are not sustainable, viable or reasonable for me. This probably wont get posted but ill spread the word some other way.
I get it! We don't make these bins or wouldn't charge that price but it's not something we are doing on purpose. Of Course DIY is always much more affordable and we absolutely recommend going that route. For sure though, not greed! Also, in this day and age, the website automatically emails you when you abandon your cart. It's helpful for business and I'm really sorry you feel that's being pushy. Please reach out if you ever need anything we are here to help. Also you can reach out to AJ at growing organic who makes these bins if you have questions.

Never received tracking info but yet it says delivered. Delivered to who and where cause its not at my house.
The first email that you receive is the confirmation of order and we believe this may be what you are referring to, the second email is delivered when fulfillment is complete and we can see that you did receive tracking and it shows that your product was delivered. Can you please confirm this? We really do care and want to make sure you are happy! Thank you so much!

Having a hard time getting this thing connected to my internet. They have email, but since it’s a Chinese based company, they don’t have a real person style customer service call center. Very disappointed. Bought the pack with 8 sensors but I can’t even get the hub to connect
I'm not to sure if this product is really that necessary if you have cover crop and top dress. I keep getting the seeds from the mix sprouting up and I'm not truing to grow corn as a cover crop.
Very disappointed that you get your shirts from china. They have horrible child labor laws. Disappointed in build a soil for selling shirts that you have to order bigger sizes because of the quality of shirt you get from china is bad. How can you be confident that your shirts are what you expect when you get them from china. Growing products are the best but the swag isn’t. I would hope buildasoil would have the best of whatever they sell but when you can’t return or exchange a shirt that is bad business and will loose customers because of this bad rule. The simplest thing would be to have shirts that fit American sizes. I ordered a size larger and it was smaller than my regular size. I wanted to exchange it for another size larger but I was told NO!
I have an officially sewed seed in it yet, but I’m all prepared. I got some strawberry milk and cookies Skywalker OG, auto flower, and some gummy bears. I’m about to put in there along with the city picker raised bed. I’m real happy with everything I’ve got from Bill Doyle and the knowledge from Jeremy‘s videos. Thank you so much for that. I’ll attach the video and a picture of a seed I found on the seat of a car I think it was the gumbo. I like to call this plant my omega since the legalization in Minnesota. It’s my first full growth start to finish I’ve been able to do I did almost killed this plant twice I overwatered it in the beginning to the point of lock where it was dying and then I decided to just transplant it to try to save it and then I ripped out like half the roots Just goes to show how resilient these plants are. I transplanted into build the soil light soil and the other half 3.0 so we could grow from the light into the 3.0 and it’s just flourished ever since it is a bit of a run but I’m gonna get a pretty good yield so I’m pretty happy and it looks just bomb. Thank you so much build the soil.
This soil wasn't for me. I've tried plenty of different recipes when it comes to making your own soil and the plants were 100x happier. I found some big pieces in the bags, I'm not even sure what it is. It looks like some coal Santa dropped into Jeremy's stocking for being on the naughty list. Even more annoying than this is you can only get the Dominion blend online and the shipping charges are outrageous. Can we get the dominion blend shipped to your current grow stores and throw away all of the 3.0 soil?
I love having an amendment that fills the gap that BAS’s soil recipes are oddly lacking on. I don’t know exactly why BAS’s soils are missing key micronutrients, but regardless, this is good to have. However, it’s a nightmare for me to use it every single time. It constantly clogs my sprayer. I have to unclog the tip every 30 seconds or so when applying this stuff. It’s not quite micronized enough for sprayers. When I need to use it which is every 1 to 2 weeks I’m going to start using it in a rain style watering can. That sucks because I can’t control the soil coverage as well as I can with a sprayer, but I have to figure something out to fill those nutrient gaps in the soil. Good stuff, just a pain to use.
I know right! We actually add lot's of this right into our 3.0 Recipe soil but with such high organic matter it's helpful to have a way to add more instead of trying to frontload so much. The results are better. We get it!! We wish the humic was totally water soluble as well, Dr. Faust often told me if we needed to use on farm or foliar to do a hot water extraction of the micronutrients and then let it all settle. This way just the chunks of humic are left at bottom and all the micronutrients are in the water. Hope that helps

Does not measure 20 in at the bottom it only measures 16 and 3/4 in so it's not a 20 inch pot
Unreliable and glitchy.
Started out ok but then the meters started giving off random readings and even said the soil was at 35 for a week straight when I came in to find a plant completely wilted because the soil was bone dry.
Can’t make adjustments/calibrations to the meters without having a math degree and understanding calculus to read the formula in the manual.
No longer trust any of the meters to give an accurate reading.
