A note from BuildASoil

Over the last 13+ years, we've grown into a much better company — and a lot of that growth came directly from our critical reviews. Every 1, 2, or 3-star review on this page taught us something. New formulations, better packaging, improved shipping, clearer instructions, stronger customer support — almost all of it traces back to a customer who took the time to tell us what wasn't working.

If you haven't tried BuildASoil in a while — or you tried us early on and it didn't go great — we'd genuinely love another shot. We get better every year, and we have the receipts to prove it. See what's new at buildasoil.com →

I work in the Cannabis industry as an IPM technician. My supervisor ordered two of these to keep Foliar sprays and oil sprays separate from our DRAMM hydra. A month in of careful use about 5 times a week and these are already breaking down. It’s very clear from the beginning that these were never tested in the field. The suction hose inside the tank is too long and halfway through a tank, will float on top of the liquid and pull air through. I had to tie the hose like a pretzel to get the end to stay on the bottom and it still leaves about a gallon of fluid in the tank at the end that can’t be sucked through. The drain is leaking on one of the tanks even with Teflon tape applied. If you tighten the plastic cap too far, it will pop off the threads and you have to retighten and have to try and find the sweet spot, which it will still leak. Whoever designed the handle to the cart, is not bright. It’s an open triangle shape and when you are wrapping up why hose, it can get wrapped up in the handle which adds to the frustration if you work in tight spaces indoors like I do. The spray gun is junk. One of the guns doesn’t automatically shutoff when you release the handle and you have the push it forward every time yourself to shut off the spray. The other gun will actually stay spraying even when fully pushed forward in the off position and just randomly shuts off when it feels. For what we paid for these sprayers you would expect a much better performance and not have to make modifications straight out of the box to get these to work as they should. We also have a 50 gal DRAMM hydra which after using these is an absolute dream to use. The gro-kings have been an absolute nightmare and I complain to my supervisor every day that I have to use them. They regret the purchases and are basically using them because the money was already spent and we’ll use them until they break completely, which they are well on their way already. I wouldn’t pay any amount of money on these for my personal gardening and especially not for a greenhouse operation. Heed the warning and use your well earned money to purchase a higher quality product that is actually going to last.

Plugged them in, air dispersement is fab, size is great, but after about 30 seconds, the tautness on the interior cord squeals like crazy every time it turns to the right. Bought 2 fans, both did the same. :(

Seal on the bottle was broken and leaked inside the package. In spite of, the extra effort that was (obviously) taken to prevent this. Unfortunate

I had to give the fan extra support to make sure it stayed where I wanted it. I put zip ties as a stop on the pole because it wants to slide down otherwise. It slid down first and got bound up trying to oscillate. The motor overheated and I thought it was gone. It eventually came back on but it’s noisy now and I’m not confident it’ll last long. If the clip would’ve held and avoided the little accident, I would’ve rated a 3 or 4. Decent little oscillator

This definitely works, but it isn't as concentrated as the Tweetmint. You need to use 4oz of Dr.Zymes and only 1 oz of Tweetmint per gallon. For 35 bucks you get 16 oz of Tweetmnt and 32 oz of Zymes. With that you can make 16 gallons of Tweetmint and 8 of Zymes. I didn't realize this when I decided to try it out. So in essence, you are paying twice as much for Dr.Zymes. I have used Tweetmint for years before this came out and have killed all kinds of insects, from aphids to spidermites it has not failed me. Plants are happy and healthy and I spray weekly. Plus it saved a buddie's grow from PM. I also use it in spray bottles to clean and sanitize the grow room and my house in general. Either way, these enzyme based products are much better than the toxins we used to have to spray!

Thought my plants could possibly use some silica since it always seems like people enjoy the results they get adding it, but I found in my personal soil it had no benefit and just burned the plants a tiny bit (obviously this misusage was 100% my fault but if your soil is loaded you probably don't need it)

1. This is not a book, Its about 15 pages with lots of photos. 2. All this info is great, but pretty basic. Some good starter recipies. Not much depth after that. 3. Not worth $15, google living soil and read up on the basics for free. 4. This would be better, and more envornmently friendly as a $4.99 PDF download. This does not need to be printed.

This is for the 1 gallon pot, purchased to see how roots do in a moisture lock liner bag. The overall quality of the pot is excellent, I mean like an order of magnitude grater than say.. the Root Pouch or Grow Pro essential fabric pot. However, the only weakness, is that the threads at the ends are just left dangling at the end, to eventually start coming undone. I would still purchase or recommended it with the expectation that there would be some minor stitch work involved by the end user.

I am a first time grower so I did not think 5 gallon pots would vary in size. However, these are 1.5" shorter than the other 5 gallon fabric pots sold on the same site. I find this bizarre and somewhat disingenuous. I did not think to compare the dimensions of 2 different "5 gallon" pots until after I got them and my boyfriend, who is not new at growing, said they were quite small for 5 gallons. I do a lot of purchasing for my research lab at a university and any bucket that is called 5 L (gallons aren't in science land) is the exact same dimensions as another 5 L bucket. This makes no sense to me, and I think it would be helpful to clarify that not all 5 gallon pots are the same size and to check the dimensions and compare those dimensions to others. Pots are nice, though. I've spent about $300 on this site in the past month and other than this weird size stuff, I also tried to review these pots on Sunday (for 4 stars), which was not published. I find this even more disingenuous.

Although this book has some helpful info, its only 9 pages long. I would probably consider calling this a pamphlet as opposed to a book. I only gave 3 stars because I'm really not convinced that its worth the price.

Setup and attaching to the tent pole was very easy and has a very secure grip. Unfortunately, the Low setting will not stay on; it only works on High, whether or not it's oscillating. The fan is loud on both settings.

I don’t think this will help much for the intended use of adding aeration to a mix. The particles are way too small and fine, I have a feeling they just made my soil even more dense. I’m sure they add some valuable trace minerals and silica, though.

I purchased a grow king sprayer. The pump fried because the electrical contacts are exposed to all the moisture you are spraying. Then the super fancy stainless steel spray gun, that justifies this crazy asking price, snapped down the center of the steel housing. Save yourself alot of headache and money and purchase a paint sprayer for $300.00. That outperforms this lemon!

I ordered the shorty but was sent the 3 x 3 x 6 11 instead. Makes it difficult to setup from a wheelchair. Customer service offered me a quick refund but unfortunately i couldnt wait for gorilla grow to ship them more inventory. They also told me they would make it up to me as the mistake was not on my end. I ended up keeping it. Great product just not the right size was shipped to me.

Love this product... but... after learning what they did to not only BuildASoil but other growers made me want to never support the product again. Ill use up what I have obviously (I'm no dummy) and use another product, one that supports BuildASoil also. I might support them again, but they would have to do something amazing to make up for what they did. Just sayin...

I was a little surprised when I opened the package to find it smelled like feet. Didn't think much as I opened the bottle and it smelled more like a typical ferment. However once diluting at the ratio and applying as a foliar. I was assaulted by the smell of stinky feet x5. It saturated Into the room and it has yet to fully subside after 5 days. I'm not sure if my batch was bad, because I know kombucha can smell like feet if brewed with mash instead of blended. However I probably won't be using this anymore for any indoor. If anything it'll be a greenhouse regimen. 😅 3 stars for the plants response. -2 stars for the feet smell that won't go away 😅 I'm recommending it because I love every product I try that you guys carry. And I'm hoping this batch was a unique one.
