The soft rubber coating provides a lot of protection, and the wire helps make a loop to hold your branch. Benefits over the usual garden tape: easy to readjust, easy to clean and reuse, softer. Downsides: requires a pair of wire cutters or else you’ll dull your scissors, you’ll need 50+ feet to not run out right away, and it's expensive. I use binder clips as anchors around my smarts, and that works well to slide things around.
