Malibu Compost Reviews

I am so glad to have found a reliable source for Bu's Blend Malibu compost! I have been using this for several years, but the acquisition of this wonderful compost has been difficult in Connecticut where I garden. My soil is not the greatest - we built our house in a densely wooded area and have problems with asian jumping worms, black walnut toxicity, and lack of healthy garden soil. Malibu compost has changed that for us and it is amazing how our plants, shrubs, and vegetables have responded! Hope you continue to carry this product. Also, your staff seems quite knowledgable about soil and how it should be healthy and alive - which is refreshing.

Never added any fertilizer and had a great harvest. Unfortunately, I did not take many pictures.

This is THE most incredible compost I’ve ever seen in my 25 years of growing food and using/making compost! We used this in our Clackamass Coots living soil recipe, and I was so impressed with the results I went and shared links with all my gardening friends and family. You guys definitely don’t mess around when it comes to quality, sourcing and testing! Thanks BAS! ♥️

Incredible growth in the veg state with tea from adding this compost. I would recommend this product highly.

I’ve ordered several bags and up until recently they were all very high quality. The last bag I ordered was a 2 gallon bag and it was not Malibu Compost, idk what it was but it looked like mulch and dirt, obviously there was a mistake made and I have a feeling it was on Malibus part but either way I contacted Build A Soil and informed them it wasn’t up to spec and they checked the rest of their stock to insure it doesn’t happen again and they immediately sent me out a replacement bag. They always have great customer service and if you ever have any issues just send them an email or call them and they will make it right.

Not to impressed. It was very woody and felt nothing like BU's Blend. BU's blend is fluffy and rich, not woody. The compost you sent me felt more like mulch.

Haven't used yet. Waiting for outside Temps to warm. Can't wait to use and hope this product helps keep my PH in range

Love this product. Always works like it should.

Smells great, and seems screened. I almost feel they shred it before bagging up to make it look more consistant, but I don't know for sure. I mixed it 50/50 with charged biochar and added big-6 to it and a like 1 part rice hulls. and tons of organic fruiting fertilizer so they all charge the biochar. I hope it works out. I know biochar only sticks to positive ions and not the negative charged ones, so not every nutrient binds to it. Either way, it smells great and doesn't stink. I had to use MUCH more fert than I normally do and it didn't heat up much because of the huge amounts of carbon the char adds. I noted that fact down for future. I hope to only need like 10-15% of this to pumice and coco or peat substrate. This way my 6 cubic feet should make like 50 or so cubic feet. I will probably add much more than 10% though! Also using a couple trays of this for wormfarm bedding to see how that goes. I may update this review in the future

mine came with some predator mites that were absolutely amazing for me until 1 day they were mysteriously gone.

Has a nice farmhouse funk to it at first but after applying it seems to go away.

Good consistency , split the bag 4 ways and mixed it with worm castings into the soil

Nothing but the highest quality! A must have in the garden. It is high quality compost with the perfect moisture. Something that I would definitely recommend

The Colorado worm castings are great as is the Malibu compost the garden really responded well to both

This stuff makes your plants dance like it’s a Friday night in the 50s plants and soil will boom the life in the soil will explode and your plants will pray to the plant gods

I love this stuff out it in the living beds and pots a few days maybe a week or two later had mushrooms pop up the soil is loving the top dress of this!!!

My favorite compost company. Always high quality. So much so that I had to order from BAS because they were sold out everywhere around me. And I am from the PNW area like Malibu Compost is from. I had to pay 100$ extra for shipping just to order this stuff from BAS, and I HAPPILY did it over buying another brand. Highly recommend! Works GREAT with the 'BuildASoil Complete Soil Building Kit - Coot Approved'.

I'm actually using this product for vermicomposting and the worms love themselves some cow dung & composted material. Works great with the Conibo Coir for bedding for the worms.

I use this compost for mixing with last years soil, making teas and just used it to change my bio char.
