This product hand down is the best seed Starting mix I have ever used, I'm 60 and have been growing since I was 14, I'm prone to overwatering this mix seem to hold on to air really well, I would say it's almost idiot proff,

A nice light seed starter soil.

The first bag of this I received was very good. The next couple of batches were less. There were small sticks in the mix that were not in the first bag. The third shipment, I received, was very wet and was smelling moldy and it was much more clumpy and more small sticks. I still think it will be useful but time will tell.

Great product and anything you put out is always so far above and beyond in quality and benefit to the plants. LOVE ALL YOUR PRODUCTS

The heady working well, great airy goodness, perfect for seedlings

I bought BuildASoil’s Heady Start Seedling Soil on a whim while planning a seed-starting media experiment for my vegetable garden. I was mainly drawn to its premium list of ingredients, but after receiving the mix, I have many positive things to say about it. 1. The texture is perfect for starting vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings. In my opinion, it has the perfect proportion of perlite, and the particle size is just right for optimal germination. Not only that, but it retains moisture well and has fantastic aeration. Very few seed-starting mixes I’ve trialed have nailed this, but Heady Start managed to. 2. In my ongoing seed-starting media experiment, I am testing 4 premium bagged mixes and my own homemade mix to see which one produces the largest, healthiest seedlings in a controlled environment. All of the seeds were planted at the same time, and they are subjected to the same ambient temperature, humidity, airflow, lighting, and are planted in the same trays — the only thing changing is the medium used. Heady Start blew me away with its speedy germination and high germination rate — I planted 36 seeds, and all 36 emerged within just 5 days of seeding. While it has only been 11 days since the beginning of my experiment, Heady Start has, by far, grown the healthiest seedlings of all. The seedlings are greener, more advanced, and overall healthier than the rest, which is very impressive just 11 days in. I have no doubt that Heady Start will be crowned the winner in my trial — if that’s the case, I will be exclusively using it for seed-starting this season. I give Heady Start 5 stars out of 5 in my book. If you want to grow the healthiest vegetable, herb, and flower seedlings for your garden, you have stumbled across the perfect product!

I'd been having ongoing failures with a different seed starting product, to the point where I thought I'd lost the understanding of how to get things to grow. But Heady Start saved the day! Seeds have sprouted and are thriving, looks like this will be my go-to material moving forward!

Recently, I’ve been having trouble getting my seeds started I might have wasted a couple of hundred dollars first time using this I had a 90% success rate hopefully I’ll go back and be able to do it with my own blend but the ROI is a winner right out the gate

Really nice potting soil , wish bI would have used this instead of recipe 3.0 for my seedlings. Works well to if you have an autopot with airbase for filling holes at the bottom for wicking over the larger recipe 3.0 which has larger chunks for aeration. Wish soil was cheaper, but good quality costs more .

Drop the seeds wait 3-4 days, and watch em grow

Like the ingredient list, and the soil is more fine and easier for seedlings to break through without the large pumice. I’m a fan

I only grabbed a few bags because it's discontinued but I'm glad I did. I have a project going, and this was perfect for starting it out with a bang.

I haven't used this seedling soil yet. I am sure like all build a soil products that it will be a great addition to my grow. I would recommend this product .

Big fan of this mix, love the texture. I keep a few picky cuts like Dosidos and Z. This mix, water only is perfect for them. I've direct sowed seeds of all types in it with no issues. even used it for cloning in place of root riots or char coins by packing it into a 6 cell. The key with this stuff is to pre wet it and mix it up well rather than water in while it's dry. Get it to the perfect moisture, fill your pot or trays, pop in your seeds or clones and leave them. in the right conditions they'll root before you need to water again. 1st 2 pics are Dosi, this cut was from a near death mom and you can't even tell. last pic is a pack of Trop cherry regs i direct sowed no issues.

Holds way too much moisture. Never dries out.

Man what great soil, Perfect for you if you are Transplanting

This starter soil has everything a little plant needs to grow up big and tall.

It's a great soil to start seeds in then once established the roots go into the 3.0 soil with no stress. Never trusted another brand I am loyal to the soil.

I had been using regular soil for my seeds/clones but they are so much happier with this soil. I think regular soil is too thick for new plats, they need to breath.

This soil is amazing for seeds or or clones. It’s light fluffy airy, and it was responsible for pulling most of my seeds starts describe great new products.

I popped seeds within 3 days using this fluffy soil and watering with Q and Aloe Vera. The seeds love it and are thriving! I plan to use this in my pots when directly sowing, too. Thanks, BAS! Another stellar product!

Used for my veggie seeds, had more sports with this mix than store bought or even my mix. Will use all the time.

Great way to start your seeds in a neutral soil

I have tried my own mixes, but for starting important starts its nice to have this stuff that I can get from a trusted expert instead of relying on my own error-prone work.

Haven’t been disappointed with any BAS orders ive made.

It seems to work well for a very mild soil to start seedlings in. I will have to say I did have a little bit of fungus gnats in the bag but after drying it out a bit they weren’t around long. I have no complaints!
